Sheridan Scott is Chief Regulatory Officer of Bell Canada. She is responsible for overseeing all activities involving the CRTC, the Copyright Board and the Competition Bureau on behalf of Bell Canada, Bell Mobility and Bell ExpressVu.
Sheridan has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors, including nine years at the CRTC where she was involved in major hearings on long distance competition, the regulation of cable rates and the renewal of pay and specialty licences. She subsequently spent two years at the CBC, where she was Vice President, Planning and Regulatory Affairs with responsibilities for affiliate relations, regulatory matters, resource planning and audience research.
In 1994, Sheridan joined Bell Canada, as Vice President, Multimedia Law & Regulation where she was responsible for managing the legal and regulatory issues associated with Bell Canada’s entry into the broadcasting distribution sector. Prior to her appointment as Chief Regulatory Officer in August 1999, she was Vice President – Office of the President. Sheridan obtained a law degree from the University of Victoria in 1981, following which she served as Law Clerk to the Chief Justice of Canada, the Right Honourable Bora Laskin. She was called to the Ontario bar in 1983.
Sheridan is Past Chair of Canadian Women in Communications, Chair of the Maestro’s Circle of Opera Lyra Ottawa, Vice Chair of the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, Chair of the Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA) and a member of the Leadership Giving Committee of the United Way.
Ms Scott and her husband, David Zussman, live in Ottawa with their two children Richard and Julianne.
