An important concept within ICRAplus is that it should adhere to the ideas of the Internet Content Rating Association an independent, non-profit organization. ICRA’s aim is to protect children from potentially harmful material while protecting the free speech rights of content providers.
The central point about ICRA’s approach to rating and filtering is that rating labels are applied by the content provider, not by ICRA, and that it is parents who choose what they want their children to be allowed to see and what should be blocked. If access to a web page is blocked, the reason for the block, and the person or organization whose rules have lead to the block being applied, must be made clear.
If a site is blocked by an installed filter, ICRAplus will tell you which one(s). If it is your own rules which have blocked access to a site, again, this is made clear.
