Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer – Geotrust
David Chen is chief executive officer and co-founder of Geotrust. Mr. Chen brings to Geotrust more than 18 years of operational and management experience in virtually every segment within the high technology industry. As CEO, Chen is responsible for the leadership, strategic direction, business development and executive recruiting.
Prior to launching Geotrust, Mr. Chen founded The Ascent Group, a business strategy consulting firm focused on helping technology companies develop and implement growth strategies. At The Ascent Group, Mr. Chen developed an approach that leverages the dynamics of change that are prevalent within technology companies during business strategy development. Mr. Chen and his firm have provided business strategy counsel for such technology brand names as Microsoft Corporation, Intel, Fujitsu, Egghead, and Synopsis, as well as many successful start-up companies.
Previously, Mr. Chen served as vice president of marketing at Mentor Graphics. While with Mentor Graphics, Mr. Chen led the restructuring of the company’s product and services strategy, resulting in substantial revenue growth in the core Design Automation business. Mr. Chen was also vice president at CIMLINC, a mechanical design automation software firm, and a consultant in the technology practice of McKinsey & Company, where his clients included Siemens, Molex, CDC, Sperry and Data General.
Mr. Chen currently sits on the board of directors for a number of companies including Invisic, Intarka, @Mobile and Etirna. He also is a venture partner with Olympic Venture Partners.
Mr. Chen holds a BA from the University of California at Berkeley and a Masters in Management from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
